Slide into Fun: The PowerPoint Party Team Building Craze
Remember our September email on alternative team-building ideas for rural businesses? (Find it here: https://mailchi.mp/sceneandherdpr/get-out-of-the-meeting-room-unleash-authentic-team-building-in-a-rural-setting). We had great feedback, but a few of you were curious about one suggestion in particular: the PowerPoint Party! It might sound a bit… officey, but trust us, this is team building with a twist, and it works brilliantly for land-based organisations too.
Forget dry business presentations. A PowerPoint Party is a purely social gathering where team members create and present lighthearted, often hilariously quirky presentations on topics they're passionate about. It’s a fantastic way to discover hidden talents, learn more about your colleagues' interests, and boost team morale. Think of it as a creative explosion with slides!
How it Works:
Pick a Topic: This is where the fun begins! Each person or team chooses a topic they love, find fascinating, or just think is plain ridiculous. The weirder, the better!
Craft Your Presentation: Using PowerPoint or similar software (or a flipchart), create a visually engaging presentation. Think images, maybe some GIFs, and some witty text. Don't worry about being too polished – the emphasis is on fun, creativity and authenticity.
Showtime! During the party, each person or team takes the stage (or corner of the barn) to present their masterpiece. Share your geekery, insights, and stories – and don't be afraid to ham it up!
Chat and Laugh: After each presentation, encourage questions, comments, and friendly bantz. This is where the real team bonding happens.
PowerPoint Parties thrive on the unexpected. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

Hosting Your Rural PowerPoint Party:
Keep it Casual: Relaxed vibes are key. Think picnic blankets, hay bales, or a room in the local pub.
Loose Guidelines: Set a few ground rules (like time limits and keeping things respectful), but let creativity run wild.
Fuel the Fun: Delicious food and drinks are a must! Think local produce, homemade treats, or a barbecue.
Get Chatting: Encourage interaction and discussion after each presentation. That's where the team connection strengthens.
We'd love to hear about your PowerPoint Party adventures or your ideas for rural business team building.
