Are you a female working in agriculture, the rural sector, in an allied trade or perhaps with aspirations to set up your own rural business? Are you aware of the ‘Be Your Best Self’ Programme, a free online programme, funded by the Scottish Government, which helps rural women from across Scotland to grow their confidence, identify their skills and build their networks?
Spaces are available for future cohorts of this great programme and we invite you along for an informal chat with one of the facilitators at AgriScot to find out how the programme could benefit you.
Simply head along to the Highland Hall Foyer Workshop Room (near the main entrance) at AgriScot anytime between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm to have a private 1:1 chat – 10 minutes that could change your life!
The BYBS team will also be involved in the SAOS ‘Skills Development – Future Proofing Farming’s Workforce’ seminar (upstairs at 2.30 pm) so would love to see you there.
You can find out more about the Be Your Best Self programme at www.beyourbestself.site
In this seminar, SAOS, Scotland’s experts on industry collaboration, want to explore with the panel and the audience how the sector can adapt to future-proof its workforce by attracting and recruiting new employees into agriculture, retaining the existing workforce, developing skills to embrace new opportunities and creating next-generation leaders within our industry.
Chaired by Rory Christie, SAOS Vice-Chairman, the seminar will look at how we develop sufficient and adaptable workforce resource to deal with the significant and unpredictable changes facing farming in 2023 and beyond.
With the help of others from the sector, as well as seminar delegates, we will look at positive recruitment, proactive retention and strategic skills development.
‘The future’ looks like net zero, agritech, data-driven, new systems and diversification but what core or new skills do we need to be learning or teaching in order to ensure a future-proof workforce? The session will examine existing and desired solutions including the Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders programme and the Be Your Best Self programme for women in agriculture.
Please join SAOS and partners at this AgriScot seminar as they debate and discuss this - all with the goal of working to find short, medium and long-term solutions to some of the major recruitment challenges facing the sector. The seminar takes place in Room 2 in the Upper Foyer at 2.30 pm.
