As we near the end of 2024, I wanted to share some important news with you all. My business partner and friend, Ross (Monty) Montague, has made the tough decision to step down from Scene & Herd due to ill health.
Over the years, Monty has been an integral part of our business. His energy, creativity, and dedication to supporting Scotland’s rural community have left a lasting legacy. From promoting small businesses to helping launch initiatives like the OnFARM podcast and OnRECORD, our audio memories project, Monty’s impact has been both powerful and unforgettable.
Whilst he may not be in a place where he’s able to work within Scene & Herd any longer, I saw Monty yesterday and he was on great form and looking forward to seeing what 2025 holds for him.
It’s difficult to put into words how grateful I am for his partnership and support since we became business partners back in 2012. While his leaving marks the end of an era for Scene & Herd, it’s also an opportunity to embrace a new chapter.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’ll continue working through Scene & Herd but will also be exploring other opportunities. Whilst Scene & Herd will remain, I feel that without Monty I shall get a little lonely and so one option I’m also keen to explore is the idea of perhaps filling the colleague gap by working part-time in-house for a business or cause about which I can feel passionate.
I’d love to hear from you if you think there are any ways in which we could work together to mutual benefit going forward
Before I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, I want to thank Monty for everything he’s contributed to Scene & Herd. His impact will always be felt, and I wish him every bit of strength and support as he focuses on health, family and new chapters.
Here’s to all of us continuing to support and celebrate Scotland’s incredible rural community.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
Best wishes,
Anna
