Five Reasons NOT to Work With US

Yes, you did read that correctly!  Contrary to what some may believe, we don’t issue this Monday email just to try to get more business. We send it because we enjoy connection and because we recognise the help that many businesses and individuals offer us and are keen to offer something a little useful to others. A virtuous circle if you like.

In fact, there is a high chance that a number of you will never work with us, in a conventional sense at least, and may never wish to. That’s OK.  We still love having a connection with you and anyone else working in the rural or foodie sectors.

For those who are unsure about ever working with us, we thought we might highlight 5 reasons why you may NOT want to:

You might think we just don’t gel.
We all know people we love, people we like, people who are nice enough but who we just don’t seem to gel with and even people we can’t stand. In order to do the best job with our clients, there needs to be a relationship of mutual like and respect. If you like us, but you don’t feel a strong spark, (or even if you don’t like us!) then you might not want to work with us.  Fair enough!

You may think that bespoke PR and Marketing services are too expensive.
True, it’s not affordable for many businesses and hard to justify for others. We know it’s money well spent but that doesn’t mean that everyone wants to spend that money.  No problem.  You might be interested to read about our online training which can help you or your team members to upskill in various areas of communications. You don’t have time.
When we work with a new client, it's true that we do need to spend a little time getting to know each other and planning a strategy that fits your business goals. Going forward, we will do the hard work but there does need to be a little bit of interaction from time to time.  If you don’t have that time, you can’t get the best out of a PR and marketing company.

You don’t like straight talking.
We are polite and we are courteous but we are also honest and we challenge. We really need to understand what a business wants before we can assist it with its communications and we often ask a lot of questions to get to that point. If that makes you uncomfortable you may not enjoy working with us.

You don’t like being in the spotlight.
We’re not talking Broadway here but generally, when we work with businesses, the people who own and run them are so important when it comes to PR. It might be profile pieces and features or it might be you speaking to a podcast or on the radio. If you are a shrinking violet, you might not like our efforts to get your and your business noticed!

If you aren’t put off and think perhaps our services could help you, drop me an email and we can arrange an informal chat.   anna@sceneandherdpr.co.uk
