Here we are again, almost at the end of the year. Our thoughts inevitably turn to what we’ve achieved...or not! If life has thrown you some curve balls during 2024, try not to be too hard on yourself. In some respects, nothing changes, we just have to deal with a different set of challenges.
In 2021, in response to challenges being experienced in the rural sector at that time, we launched a short film (shown above), aimed at raising the feel-good factor amongst Scotland’s farmers. Originally the brainchild of Midlothian farmer Scott Brown, the film, “We All Need a Farmer”, is the work of award-winning director, Jason Connery, and is narrated by renowned Scottish actor Ian Pirie with a script co-written by Monty and production and graphic design by team Scene & Herd. Three years and 10,000 YouTube views later, the agri sector is still facing challenges. I won't mention 'IT', but if you are concerned about succession planning, please speak to a professional with expertise in rural matters such as Gillespie Macandrew - above all else, please remember that we all need a farmer.

January Jumpstart: A Social Media Planner for the New Year
Kick off 2025 with a bang!
January is a month of new beginnings, fresh starts, and inspiring challenges. It's the perfect time to connect with your audience on social media and share your brand's story. Here’s a content calendar to help you navigate the month:
Dry January: A Flavourful Twist
Dirty Mocktails: Embrace the "Dirty Cocktail" trend and create delicious, alcohol-free drinks with a unique twist. Share your recipes on Instagram with eye-catching visuals.
Veganuary with a Scottish Twist: We may not all be in favour of Veganuary (and that’s ok!) but remember that Scottish farmers feed vegans as well as meat and dairy eaters so highlight the versatility of Scottish-grown vegetables, even during the winter months. Bust myths about vegan diets on TikTok or share your favourite plant-based recipes in your newsletter.
Celebrate the Bard's Birthday
Burns Night: Share your Burns Night plans on social media, whether it's a traditional supper, a virtual celebration, or a unique twist on the classic event.
Look Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
Share Your Vision: Offer a glimpse into your brand's future. Share your hopes, dreams, and goals for the year ahead.
Product Launches: Hint at upcoming products or services.
Milestones: Celebrate significant milestones, such as anniversaries or growth targets.
Customer Appreciation: Thank your loyal customers and encourage them to leave reviews (did you see our previous mailing about the importance of online reviews?).
A Word of Caution While it's tempting to jump on every trending hashtag, it's important to be selective. Choose awareness days and campaigns that genuinely align with your brand's values and mission. Authentic, informative, and engaging content will resonate with your audience and help you build stronger relationships.
