SKAi - SoilEssentials KORE Artificial Intelligence  - a ‘retrainable, smart-camera vision system’, developed in Scotland - and now being deployed to eliminate rogue potatoes in Dutch onion crops - has been awarded a Silver medal in the coveted Royal Highland Show Technical Innovation Awards (Read more).

FirstPort Scotland has launched the Social Innovation Challenge and is looking for innovators that are developing solutions that tackle climate change issues faced by rural communities in Scotland. The Challenge will award up to £50k in grant funding and tailored support.  Read more

It's been a year since a short film aimed at raising morale amongst Scotland's farmers, was launched on social media.  We All Need A Farmer is the work of director Jason Connery, narrated by Scottish actor Ian Pirie, and was made at the instigation of Scott Brown, a Midlothian farmer and animal health advisor with Dumfries-based Murray Farmcare (Read more).

Biodiversity provides the natural resources which provide our food and enable our land and sea-based businesses to operate. The Scottish Government is seeking views for their Biodiversity Strategy and is keen to gather views from individuals, organisations and specific interest groups before 12 September.  Read the consultation here.

27 -  World Tourism Day

Show your support for tourism with a post highlighting local agritourism enterprises, food trails and hidden gems in your area.

29 - International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

Globally, around 20% of fruit and vegetable is lost between harvest and retail. Share success stories like that of Growers Garden who make crisps from vegetables that would otherwise not have made the grade for supermarket shelves.
