OnFARM Podcast: Europe's largest ram sale in the Scottish Borders

Monty goes in search of a new breeding tup at Europe's largest ram auction - while OnFARM producer Dave nearly buys one by accident. We also follow a young auctioneer getting his first opportunity on the big stage, and speak to Border Union Agricultural Society chief executive Dan Withall. The Kelso Ram Sales, held annually by BUAS, had an electric atmosphere from the outset - as one of the first major 'in person' agricultural events after Covid restrictions were loosened. Communicating messages to the outside world is our business - and our clients tell us we do it pretty well! However, just as crucial is being able to form an effective relationship with clients and communicate with them in order to help them reach their PR and wider business goals. Of course, different clients work in different ways dependent on everything from time pressure, the importance they place on PR and even individual personalities, so there is no one fix for all. Dream clients naturally tell us everything that is going on in the business as soon as they have developments, allowing us to pull out the interesting bits and spread the word in a relevant manner; others need regular reminders that we are there to help, forgetting that we have a joint aim; getting that message out there!

An expansion of a personal development programme for women in agriculture has been launched this month, with participation commencing in October 2021.A new delivery team has been appointed to deliver the Scottish Government-funded ‘Be Your Best Self’ programme, whose membership includes experts in personal development facilitation, mental fitness coaching and agricultural expertise, to offer a creative and impactful experience for participants.
